We went to San Antonio last week!
As you can see in the map,
it's quite a long drive
from the Rio Grande Valley to San Antonio-
we left Weslaco at 5 in the morning
and arrived at San Antonio at about 10.
The landscape on the way felt desolate; all you could see was grass
littered with mesquite trees. The horizon revealed nothing;
it was a never-ending stretch of green and brown.
it looked somewhat like this.
We passed by several derelict towns
with quite interesting names - Ben Bolt and Falfurrias.
I never realized that cowboy country (with cattle on
vast plains) exists until now.
Anyway, nakarating naman kami safely sa San Antonio.
the roadworks and highways at American metropolises
are unbelievable!
We were approaching downtown when I took this shot.
Those buildings on the background are already part
of the downtown skyline.
eto ay isang loop intersection. the overpass on the shot
is a part of a road loop that goes around the city.
andaming pasikot-sikot, and we almost got lost
as we traversed downtown.
Anway. We went there because my brother competed at a statewide academic meet
at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
that's a part of the Humanities and Social Sciences Building.
parang AS.
We waited for the results, kasi it would take two months
before maibigay yung trophies/medals.
eto kapatid ko at ako.
i was quite sleepy that afternoon.
hehe.
nakita ko 'to dun sa foliage sa may open area
sa UT. I found it fascinating. hehe. I think it's called
an anole.
anyway, he won. 3rd place in science, 12th in math.
afterwards, naghanap muna kami ng motel or inn
around the vicinity na mura ung rates.
We finally settled at the Days Inn, where a night
and a continental breakfast at cost 94 dollars!
that's for all four of us - pero mahal pa rin.
Ganun daw talaga dito.
We decided to go downtown that night.
(to be continued later) :D
